CCGP2026 Opening Event “All4Kids” Tournament Regulations

This tournament is organised as the opening event of the Cyprus Chess Grand Prix 2026 and is dedicated exclusively to young players. The event aims to promote fair play, participation, and enjoyment of chess among children, while providing a competitive and well-structured environment under official tournament regulations.

Invitation

  1. The Organising Committee of the Cyprus Chess Grand Prix 2026 invites all young players under 14 years old to participate in the tournament CCGP2026 Opening Event “All4Kids”.
  2. The tournament is part of the Cyprus Chess Grand Prix 2026 (CCGP2026).
  3. The event is non-rated and does not affect national or FIDE ratings.
  4. This event does not award Grand Prix points and does not influence the overall Grand Prix standings.

General Information

  1. Any circumstance not covered by these Regulations shall be referred to the Organiser for decision.
  2. Participation in the tournament implies full acceptance of these Regulations.

Format & Participants

  1. The tournament shall be played under the Swiss System in seven (7) rounds.
  2. The time control shall be 5 minutes per player (5+0), without increment.
  3. All participants compete in one single Under-14 Open group.
  4. Participation is open to players born in 2012 or later.
  5. Players born before 2012 are not eligible.
  6. The maximum number of participants is eighty (80).

Venue

  1. The tournament will be held at Carob Mill, Limassol, Cyprus.

  4. Players must be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the first round for confirmation of participation.

Pairings & Tie-Breaks

  1. Pairings and tie-breaks will be handled by Swiss pairing software under the responsibility of the Chief Arbiter.
  2. Pairings shall be done according to the Swiss System.
  3. The final ranking shall be determined by the total number of points scored.
  4. In case of a tie, the following criteria shall apply (in order):
    • Direct Encounter (if all tied players have played each other)
    • Buchholz Cut-1
    • Buchholz
    • Sonneborn-Berger
    • Greater number of wins
    • Greater number of wins with Black

Registration & Fees

  1. Registration shall be completed exclusively through the official online registration form.
  2. The entry fee is €10.
  3. Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
  4. Registration is valid only after confirmation of payment.

Payment

  1. Payment must be made after completing the online registration.
  2. Registration is confirmed only upon receipt of payment.

Prizes

  1. Although all players compete in one group, prizes shall be awarded in the following categories:
    • U14 (Boys – born 2012 and younger)
    • U11 (Boys – born 2015 and younger)
    • U8 (Boys – born 2018 and younger)
    • G14 (Girls – born 2012 and younger)
    • G11 (Girls – born 2015 and younger)
    • G8 (Girls – born 2018 and younger)
  2. The first three (3) players in each category shall receive medals and special prizes offered by Freedom24 Chess Academy.
  3. All participants shall receive a Diploma of Appreciation.
  4. The player with the highest overall score shall be declared “CCGP2026 ALL4KIDS Champion” and shall receive the special signature trophy.
  5. Only the Overall Champion may receive two (2) prizes. All other players may receive only one (1) prize.

Arbiters Committee

  1. The tournament shall be supervised by a Chief Arbiter.
  2. The decisions of the Chief Arbiter are final.

Additional Regulations

  1. The tournament shall be played according to the FIDE Laws of Chess, applying the provisions relevant to Blitz Chess.
  2. Recording of moves is not required.
  3. Players not present at the board at the start of the round may lose the game by forfeit at the discretion of the Chief Arbiter.
  4. The use of mobile phones or electronic devices in the playing area is strictly prohibited.
  5. Parents and friends are welcome to remain in the venue but are not allowed in the playing area during the rounds.
  6. Pairings and results will be published on chess-results.
  7. By participating in the tournament, players grant permission to the organisers to publish photos or videos taken during the event.
  8. The organisers reserve the right to make any necessary adjustments for the successful organisation of the event.
